I was first introduced to Villeneuve's films when I watched Arrival in my home for the first time. While I do believe the movie theater experience is one of a kind, I also think that Villeneuve made this film to capture an audience, no matter if it's in the movie house or not. I was truly in awe of how perfect each scene looked visually, and I knew from there, I wanted to see more of his work.
It's not only the visuals that make me love Villeneuve's work, but the music as well. I am a huge fan of film scores and soundtracks, my favorite composer being Hans Zimmer. And so, every time I see "Directed by Denis Villeneuve" and "Music by Hans Zimmer" that's when I know, I'm going to be watching a cinematic masterpiece. Arrival, Blade Runner and Dune are all rich in color and sound, and completely transport you into their worlds, and leave you wanting more of it by the end. I like the way Villeneuve's films make me want to learn more about each movie universe, and makes me even pick up a book for once, in search of more information about the characters and their backgrounds. So, with that said, I would like to go more in depth about my favorite sci-fi films by Villeneuve.
I will be reviewing Blade Runner 2049 (2017), Arrival (2016), and Dune: Part One (2021).
Hey! I'm Sophie, I'm a junior in college and I love a good sci-fi movie. I think sci-fi movies have always been a part of me, ever since I was little. I'm a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Alien franchise, Star Wars, and recently, the Dune trilogy. I'm a simple person: if I see a trailer of someone having a hard time in space, I'm going to watch it. I'm also a huge fan of Christopher Nolan's films, since he also has a lot of sci-fi, time warping movies. The movies I've reviewed mean a lot to me, so be sure to give it a read!
